Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning and choosing the rightrental home:

  • Start by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Ocean Lakes Beautiful Custom Built home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
