Vacation rental booking tips:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental:
- Start by having your group agree to vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Ocean Lakes Cottage Quiet Street, Shady Lot, 5000 Section Sleeps 7 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you crave, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Know before you go:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
