Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. NEED SPACE? Entire Townhouse-Large 2-Bdrm 1,150sf Steps to Beach. 5% Off 7Nights has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
