Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To find the best rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your group choose trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Ocean Lakes Private Rental= 2 Queen Beds 1 Bedroom/1 Sofa Bed & 1 Full Bath has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your contract.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
