Tips and Tricks to get the very best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- To book the best vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- To start, have your family agree to trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Ocean View 3 Bedroom Condo at Family Resort + Onsite Pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
