How to book the best rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Ocean view condo in beachfront resort with balcony, pools, hot tub & central AC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or could be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the host immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
