Tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your family agree to date ranges and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Ocean view condo Sea Mist 50610 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
