How to get the best vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Ocean view 3 BR/3BA condo! Royale Palms 12th floor! Perfect for families! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
