Finding the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Ocean View King Suite! Perfect for 2-4 Guests! Sea Mist 50704 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is optimal for your trip.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
