Tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, consider changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Ocean View Suite at Family Friendly Resort + Onsite Pool has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
