Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Ocean Views on Lake Magnolia has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
