Tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose and book yourvacation home:

  • Choose vacation week and budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ocean Villas apartment, view the ocean and relax has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If not, call the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon check in. text the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
