Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning and picking your Myrtle Beach rental home:
- First, have your group commit to dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Oceanfront Getaway w\/ Spectacular 10th-Floor Views! Updated Unit & Heated Pools has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
