Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Find your best deal:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To find the largest rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your family commit to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Oceanfront & Ocean-view units available; 1, 2 & 3 bedrooms has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
