Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Spacious.. & Ready for Summer Fun!!Sat-Sat summer booking only has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your family.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
