Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Finding the best value:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Newly renovated 2 Bedroom Condo- Oceanfront Views! Boardwalk 1139/1140 has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. Otherwise, email or call the host before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is best for your group.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you crave, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
