Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:
Finding the best value:
- Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing your Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. OCEANFRONT 2BR 2BA WASHER\/DRYER IN UNIT, WIFI has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the host before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
