Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
Get the best rental home value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your search:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Direct oceanfront 3 BR condo @ Myrtle Beach Resort has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
