Vacation rental booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Efficiency T508 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
