Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Oceanfront Family Friendly Condo- Beautiful Views! Steps to the Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before booking the rental. - Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your contract.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective.
