Our top Myrtle Beach rental booking tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Pelican's Watch Unit 102 - Oceanfront has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
During your stay:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
