Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing your prefectrental:
- To start, have your family agree to date ranges and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Beach House Captains Cove 3 BD, 2 BA, Linens & Golfcart included Lanai on Canal has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
