Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Find your perfect rental:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:

  • Select your vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanside Village 4 bedroom home 4 minute walk to the beach HappyDaze has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If not, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
