Finding the best vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Booking in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing and booking the perfectvacation home:
- Select vacation week and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Oceanview 2BR Condo w/ Pools & Grill! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
