Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Book your Myrtle Beach rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. OceanView 3BR Condo 10th Floor has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
