Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To book the best rental within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the perfect rental home:

  • Start by having your group choose a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanview Paradise at the Beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
