Our top Rental property booking tips:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Paramount Plus/Oceanfront/New has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
