Finding the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Pent House Unit! Camelot Resort has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Have a great stay:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
