Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation rental experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose a perfectrental home:
- Begin by selecting your trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Perfect Pet Friendly 2 Bedroom Retreat! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your trip.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
