Strategies for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Getting the best value:
- To find the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning and picking the right Myrtle Beach rental:
- Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beautiful Oceanfront 3 bedroom condo in Surfside Beach has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your contract.
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
