Myrtle Beach rental home booking tips:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental:
- To start, have your group decide on trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Ocean View Double Queen Suite with LED Fireplace! - Caravelle Resort 506 - Sleeps 4 Guests! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is best for your trip.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
