Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Choosing the best rental:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Quite warm location near golfing grounds and intercoastal waters and beaches. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of issues.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
