Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Selecting and booking the perfectrental:
- First, have your group commit to date ranges and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. A proven family FAVORITE with an excellent view. Updated OCEANFRONT property. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
