Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Make a plan and choose your prefect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Seawatch Resort, Oceanfront 2 BR Condo with Large Balcony has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
