Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To book the largest rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose yourrental home:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. River Oaks 1306 condo in resort has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If not, email the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Have a great stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
