How to book the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Getting the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Selecting the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Great House Close to Beach with a Golf Cart Included! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your contract.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
