Strategies for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Filter your search:
- To start, have your family commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Sand Dunes Resort, North Tower, Views, Nice Pools! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you love, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
