Strategies to get the best rental home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to select the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 3BR/2BA South Tower 6th Floor-Oceanfront-Gorgeous View! Beach Locker! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
During your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
