Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the best rental within budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- To start, have your group choose trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. T1012 at Myrtle Beach Resort!: Sandy Shores and Stunning Views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas during check in. text the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
