Tips and Tricks to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by having your group select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Family Oceanfront Condo Located in North end of Myrtle Beach! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
