Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and choose your prefectrental:
- Choose dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Lovely First floor 2BR condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is optimal for your trip.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
