Tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Spacious 1 BR Condo- Stunning Ocean Views- Meridian 605 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
