Finding the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation home:
- Select dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Steps to the BEACH! Ocean Annie's 2 Kings has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
