Booking the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Amazing Oceanfront Huge King Suite, 18th Floor, Walk-in Shower, New Floor has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you crave, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
