Our top Myrtle Beach rental home tips and tricks:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Choosing the perfect rental home:
- Start by having your group commit to dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Sunny Seaside Retreat with Beach & Pool Access! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
