Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Paradise! Luxuriously Furnished Suite has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
During your stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
