Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the largest rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Selecting the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Comfortable two bedroom / two full bath house in Ocean Lakes Family Campground. has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
