Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting the perfect rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Comfortable two bedroom \/ two full bath house in Ocean Lakes Family Campground. has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
