Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Oceanfront King has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your invoice.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
