How to get the best rental home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Finding the perfect vacation home:
- Start by having your family choose trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Tropical Oceanfront Cabana Rm Awaits you 4th Flr has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Advice for a great stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
