How to book the best vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Tropical Oceanfront Three Bedroom Condo 6th Floor has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More considerations:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
